Please
give a brief description of
your greatest PR or business
accomplishment:
Developing
a multimedia CD-ROM for
the Crab Orchard National
Wildlife Refuge (west of
Marion, Illinois). It contained
virtual reality mapping of
all the hiking trails, photography
of wildlife and scenic lookouts,
history of the refuge and
various other information.
It was distributed to local
schools and displayed at
the visitor center.
What
do you see as your primary
area of expertise?
I
am a multifunctional designer
with emphasis in web and
multimedia development.
What
do you love most about S&A
(two sentences or less)?
I
could say something about
the great people I work
with, but I truly love walking
into work not knowing exactly
what’s
going to happen that day.
What
is the expression you use most
often at work?
“Hey,
Dan…” and “OK.”
Who
is your most admired leader
and why?
Chief
Petty Officer Parsons for
having the courage to leave
his family to serve this
country, and for teaching
his sons the meaning of
honor, integrity, duty and,
above all, family.
What
is the company you most admire
and why?
Apple
Inc. because of its
ability to look at problems
from a unique perspective,
implementing innovative
solutions, competing
against overwhelming
odds and for just being
different.
How
do you define success?
Ending
the day knowing I did my
best to make the world a
better place.
What
is your general philosophy
on life and work?
I
have two: You never know
where the next great idea
is going to come from; and
find pleasure in the little
things and you’ll
never be disappointed.”
What
are your favorite sports or
recreational activities?
Woodworking,
cross-country skiing in
the dead of winter, backpacking
in the earlier spring and
working on my farm.
What
is your favorite movie?
It’s
a toss up between Big
Jake and
the Highlander.
What
is your favorite food?
All
of it…from
aebleskivers and calamari
to wasabi fried peas.
What
is your greatest vice?
Life
because there’s
just so much to experience.
I don’t
know how someone can be
bored.
What
is an interesting “factoid” about
yourself?
I’ve
learned how to use a chainsaw
75 feet in the air and still
keep all my body parts.
